Healthy Skin

I've always struggled with a bit of acne problems since I was about 16/17.
In my first year of university I decided to start using the Proactiv system. The beauty rep warned me about the extreme drying of the face and how things with my face would get worse, before they got better. Since I have combination skin, my face is oily in my T-zone so I wasn't too worried about over drying. I used Proactiv for 3 1/2 years before I decided to ween my skin off the product. I began to realize that my skin was becoming more oily than ever. My face was constantly shiny and I notice that certain areas on my face were constantly clogged and the same white heads and pimples would resurface. Proactiv worked great during the first year, but I think my skin was not hydrated enough causing me to produce more oil.

This is definitely not an attempt to bash the Proactiv system as I still use some of their products. What I decided to eliminate was the facial wash which contains Benzoyl Peroxide and micro scrubbers. I believe that I was "over washing" my skin which as mentioned before dried out my skin causing more oil production. Since my skin is also sensitive, I had to ween myself off of the cleanser. For a month I would only use the cleanser once per day. Eventually I successfully stopped using it with no break out to follow.

Now my skin care regime consists of the following products which are shown in the pic:
Spectro Gel - which is a gental glycerol cleanser
Proactiv Toner
Proactiv Repairing Lotion
Natural Aloe Vera Jelly as a moisturizer
Clean and Clear Acne Spot Treatment - to help quickly eliminate problem pimples.

I also take a vitamin called Perfect Skin by Genuine Health as it is important to have healthy skin inside and out. I find the products I use to be the best for my skin as I noticed that my pores are no longer clogged and the Aloe Vera is a great moisturizer for those of us who have oily skin. Finally, I also eliminated dairy products (mostly milk) as my doctor informed me that dairy has hormones that cause skin to break out.
